On-site Training Requirements

On-site Training Requirements

The Training Room

An indoor training room with chairs and tables is sufficient in quantity to accommodate the instructor and students. It must have a 240v power supply and sufficient lighting and heating as necessary.

The Instructor will bring all necessary visual equipment with him/her, which will be PA tested.

The Practical Area

The area required for the practical part of the course should ideally be within the confines of a warehouse, have a safe clear floor area of approximately 20ft x 20ft and a clearance of at least 20ft.

Lunch/Tea Breaks

An amount of breaks are programmed into the theoretical (morning) parts of the course. It would be appreciated if beverages are made available to the Instructor and students.

There will be a short break for lunch, which is easily programmed by the Instructor to suit the client’s timetable

Point of Contact

We require the name and telephone number of the person on-site who will be responsible for the reception and general administration of the course.

Course Commencement

In general the Instructor will arrive on site about an hour prior to the start of the course.

Course times (approx) – 09:00 to 16:00

Requirements for MEWP Operator Training

  • LOLER - our instructor will need to see clear evidence of an in date LOLER inspection certificate (or copy) for the equipment prior to the course.  If this cannot be presented to the instructor prior to the practical training, we will not permit the course to continue.
  • Instruction Manual - a copy of the platform’s current instruction manual must be made available to the instructor on the day of training.  This must be in English.
  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) - delegates attending must bring their own relevant PPE such as harnesses, lanyards, hard hats etc, in accordance with your company policy. (Harness kits can be purchased thAs the assembly and use of MEWPs can be physically demanding, users should be physically fit and in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, fear of heights/vertigo, giddiness/difficulty with balance, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness.
  • If you have any problems with literacy or language comprehension, or have any doubts about your fitness to use MEWPs, you must bring them to the attention of your employer. This need not preclude you from using MEWPs, provided your employer conducts an assessment and is able to put into place adequate measures, to take account of any difficulties you may have.

Please note: The use of Harnesses and Lanyards for Boom type platforms is strongly recommended by IPAF.  An additional Safety Harness course is also recommended for all Boom operators (please contact us if you would like further details as we do sell the harness & lanyards).

Requirements for Mobile Scaffold Tower Training

  • Please ensure delegates have their own PPE equipment which should include gloves, helmet, hi-vis jacket or vest and safety boots or shoes.
  • The course is delivered at your site using your equipment; the area for training must be suitable to allow the tower to be assembled to its full working height.
  • In the event of adverse weather conditions the course will need to be completed indoors.  The area must be suitable to erect the tower to its full height.  Should this not be available Skyreach reserve the right to cancel the course.
  • The tower equipment must be manufactured to BSEN 1004/2004.
  • All components must be in good working order with toe boards correctly fitted to the working platform of the tower.  It is a requirement that the instructor inspects the equipment on arrival.  Should there be any missing or unsuitable components this must be rectified whilst the theory is being conducted.  If this cannot be rectified within this timescale we will not permit the practical training to take place.
  • There must be sufficient components to build the tower to the minimum platform height of 4 metres (using the 3T/through the trap method of assembly).
  • A copy of the tower’s current instruction manual must be made available to the instructor on the day of training.

Any delegates who do not pass the theory part of the courses will not be permitted to complete practical training.

All courses are conducted in English. It is vital, for Health and Safety reasons, that all delegates have sufficient working knowledge of English to allow them to participate fully.
Please ensure there is a suitable parking space made free for our Instructor whilst on site.  If this cannot be done please advise and we will charge an additional fee for any parking charges incurred. Also for any courses within the congestion zone will be charged as extra.

Certificates will be forwarded on successful completion of training once the invoice has been settled in full.
